How it works
Choose to upgrade to either SAS Plus or SAS Business. Then enter your bid and payment details. If your bid isn’t accepted, you’ll keep your original seat and you won’t pay anything.
To boost your chances of securing an upgrade on flights to North America and Asia, you can participate in live bidding on selected flights, starting 25 hours before departure. Place your bid, track your ranking, view the highest bid and raise your bid anytime – right up until 6 hours before your flight departs.
If you get your upgrade, we’ll charge your credit card/debit points from your EuroBonus account and you’ll get an upgraded boarding pass at check-in.
We’ll email you to let you know whether or not your upgrade bid was accepted between 25 and 6 hours before departure. Sometimes, it may also be possible to bid again. But don’t worry, we’ll let you know if you’re eligible to place another bid.
Good to know
Upgrade your trip by placing a bid when you book or under My trips up to 6 hours before departure on flights to and from North America and Asia and up to 25 hours before departure on flights within Europe.
On flights to North America and Asia, you can place multiple bids. This mean that if you don’t get your SAS Business upgrade, you’ll still have a chance to be upgraded to SAS Plus.
If you’re a EuroBonus Diamond, Gold or Silver member, you’ll have an even greater chance of getting your upgrade.
How to pay for upgrades
You can pay for an upgrade using EuroBonus points or credit card.
If you win a bid paid by a credit card, you'll earn additional Bonus points on top of the points you earn based on your original booking class. The number of points earned is based on destination and upgraded travel class.
If you used EuroBonus points to pay for your bid, you won’t earn any points on your upgrade.
Regardless of payment option, you still earn points on your original ticket/booking class.
Upgrade at the airport
If you don’t win your bid for an upgrade or decide you’d like an upgrade at the last minute, you can always try to buy a last-minute upgrade at the airport. To see if any upgrades are available on your flight, contact our staff at the check-in counter or gate.
Airport upgrades are only available when there is room in the travel class you’d like to upgrade to.
Valid for flights to/from Asia and North America.
You can pay for an airport upgrade with credit card or EuroBonus points. You can’t earn EuroBonus points on airport upgrades.
You can't buy an airport upgrade if you have pre-ordered a meal or ordered a special meal.
Upgrade restrictions
Travelers in a group booking or on an SAS Charter flight are not eligible to bid for or buy an upgrade.
Travelers with pet in cabin cannot bid for or buy an upgrade to SAS Business.
The baggage allowance in your original ticket applies even if you’re upgraded.
You won’t earn EuroBonus points if you pay for an upgrade with points.
Any travel extras added to your trip won’t be refunded if you receive an upgrade
If you pre-order a meal and receive an upgrade, you’ll be served the meal included in the upgraded travel class and you won’t receive a refund for the meal you pre-ordered.
If you’ve requested a special meal or purchased a pre-order meal, you need to bid at least 25 hours before departure, otherwise we won’t be able to upgrade you.
If you’ve already checked in when your upgrade is confirmed, the upgrade will be canceled if you cancel the check-in. The upgrade will then be non-refundable
Travelers traveling on an SAS Travel Pass can’t bid for or buy an upgrade.
Upgrades are subject to both space and meal availability in the upgraded class. SAS do not guarantee that you will be seated together with other travelers included in your booking when upgraded. SAS do not guarantee that you will receive the ordered special meal when upgraded.
